Beauty and hair tips for playing safe Holi

Holi is finally here and we are so excited for this festival as we love playing with colors but we also need to take care of your face and hair so that you don’t mess up with them at the end. Those harmful colors can play havoc on your sensitive skin and here are some tips to play safe and colorful Holi.

Oil your hair

Use castor oil or olive oil in your hair. Apply either of these oils in your hair before you go out to play. If you don’t have these, use almond or coconut oil. This work as a protective coat on your hair and allow colors to be washed off easily later. It would be best to massage oil one night before Holi so your scalp is also protected.

Use a mild shampoo to remove color from your hair and follow up with a conditioner. Don’t use harsh soaps on your hair just because you want to remove every last speck of color from your hair.

Paint your nails dark

Paint your nails with a dark nail color to prevent them from getting stained. Apply 2 coats of it and apply Vaseline on the cuticles.

Apply Vaseline on your lips

Apply Vaseline on your lips before you head out to play. It will prevent colors from settling in the cracks of your lips.

Wear dark color-full sleeves cotton clothes. Synthetics would be sticky and denim would be heavy once you have a bucket full of water splashed on you

Avoid the Sun

When you still have color on your skin, never go into the sun. If the colors are chemical based, they get deeply absorbed in the skin pores and tough to scrub off.

Wear a bandana

The best way to protect your hair is to cover it completely with a scarf or bandana. Apart from applying oil as mentioned above, don’t take any chances with hair. To protect your hair by covering it is the best solution during Holi.

Wear sunglasses

Sunglasses are really helpful in Holi celebrations as they will protect your eyes from harsh colors.

Don’t stay wet for too long

Don’t stay in wet clothes for long as it can cause two things. One is rashes, and the other is seeping of colors in your skin more easily.

Curd and methi seeds powder

Combine these two ingredients for a post-Holi hair mask. This prevents hair damage and keeps hair nourished.

For face and hair mask

Mix two teaspoon of besan+ 1 tea spoon of mustard oil + a pinch of turmeric+5-7 drops of gulab jal (rose water) in a bowl and apply the paste on your face. Leave it for 5-4 minutes and rinse it with water. Follow up with your moisturizer. This is a good scrub for removing colors post holi
