Natural methods for lightening of your dark underarms

Are you also facing the problem of Dark coloration of the skin in the underarms region? Well, Dark underarms can be thought of as the skin’s response to exposure to certain elements, similar to a suntan that results from exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Or sometimes some creams or razor. But here are some natural methods to lighten its color.


Cucumbers have natural bleaching properties to help lighten discolored skin. Simply rub a thin cucumber slice on your underarms or grate a cucumber and apply the juice under your arms. Do this once or twice daily until you are satisfied with the results. Or else you can extract the juice from a cucumber and mix it with a little turmeric powder and lemon juice. Apply this paste on the affected area. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with water.

Massage with Potato

Like cucumber, potato also has bleaching properties. Take thin slices of potatoes and massage under arms for 5-7 minutes. Rinse with water and repeat 2-3 times a week.

Lemon and Baking Soda

Lemon is an amazing natural cleanser and mixing it with baking soda can make an outstanding scrub to get rid of dark underarms. Mix a small amount of baking soda and add fresh lemon juice and rub the scrub under your arms for 2-3 minutes. Repeat once or twice a week for best results.

 Coconut oil

Moisturizing under the arms is extremely important when trying to get rid of dark pits. Coconut oil is a great natural moisturizer that contains Vitamin E which can help lighten dark areas over time.


Oranges act as a natural scrub for your armpits and prevent the darkness by removing the dead skin cells. Peel the orange and leave the skin to dry under the sun. Grind it into a power. Mix 2 teaspoons of powdered orange peel with enough rose water and milk. Make a thick paste and apply to the underarms. Gently scrub the underarms and leave for 15minutes.Wash off with cold water.


Sandalwood is another great option to treat dark underarms. It contains skin lightening properties, while its fragrance will eliminate body odor. It also eases any burning sensation on the skin. Mix 2 tablespoons of sandalwood powder and 1 tablespoon of rose water. Stir well to make a thick paste and apply to dark armpits. Leave for 15 minutes or until dry. Rinse with cool water.
