Your skin care goals for 2018

The New Year is here, and many of you will have made New Year resolutions (if only to break them!). But there’s a resolution you can really keep – taking care of your skin.

Here are some easy tips to help you keep your New Year promise. Stick to them and you will have healthy, glowing and, eventually, clear complexion.

  • Identify your skin type

People have different kinds of skin, and depending on what kind you have, you will need your own regimen of skin care. The worst thing you can do to your skin is to use the wrong kind of product, no matter how expensive it is. So, get going and figure out if you have dry skin, oily skin, combination skin or sensitive skin. Then — and only then — figure out your skin care routine. If you like, you can take the help of a professional to find out your skin type.

  • Go make-up free once in a while

It is very beneficial to go sans make-up once in a while. Good skin is the best make-up, so try cutting down on the layers and keep it simple. Let your skin breathe. In order to feel confident about going without make-up, invest in products that reduce the appearance of pores.

  • Cleanse your skin

There are many ways to keep your skin squeaky clean. Go for a facial, a chemical peel, dermabrasion,  and so forth, from time to time so as to get your skin cleaned professionally. A hydrating facial every few months will bring out the glow and soften your skin, breathing new life into it.

  • Stick to products that suit you

It is very easy to get swayed by slick ads that promise to do wonders to your skin. Do not be in a hurry to buy everything you see in an ad. There will always be a new launch, with the product promising to brighten, tighten and lift everything. Read product reviews, and only then invest in that cream or lotion. If you do end up buying a new product, check it out for a few days. If it does not seem to work for you, discard it. It is better to let some money go to waste than use a product that does not suit you.

  • Stick to a routine

Once you have discovered the right kind of a product mix, stick to it, and create your own routine. It is important to be consistent when it comes to taking care of your skin. Most dermatologists recommend adopting a day routine and a night routine for best results.

Here’s wishing you the best of skin in 2018.
