How to find that perfect pair of jeans

So often you try on jeans at the mall, you think they seem okay, you pay for them, reach home, try them on again, and feel disappointed with your purchase. They just don’t seem right. Something is wrong, but you don’t know what. Sometimes, it’s as though your body changed on its way home.

This happens because most of the time, you buy the wrong jeans for your body type. Yes, there are different kinds of jeans for different shapes.

Here are some tips that will help you find that perfect fit.

  • If you are curvy body

If you are particularly curvy, you need a wide leg fit to balance out your bust so you don’t appear top-heavy. Go for a lighter colour wash as this will draw attention away from your chest. Low-rise jeans, boot-cuts and wide leg jeans will work best for you.

  • If you are petite

If you are petite, you can go for any cut. All cuts will look good on you. But a long, super skinny cut will show off your figure well, while a pair of high-waisted jeans will create the illusion of height. The only thing that you need to avoid is baggy jeans. That will make you look like the jeans are wearing you, rather than you wearing them.

  • If you have an hourglass figure

The hourglass figure types can also go for any cut. But skinny-fit jeans will really set you off. Wide-legged jeans will also work wonders for your waist. Make sure that you pick a pair that is not too low-rise. Stretch jeans will suit you perfectly.

  • If you are tall

If you are the lanky and lean type, a low-rise pair will give your proportion, and a high-rise style will make your legs look extra long. Boot cuts and flared jeans will also look great on you. An ultra skinny-fit will also show off your height, especially if you pair it with a long, loose top.

  • If you are a little bulky in the middle

If you have some weight in the middle, you need a pair of jeans that has a little wriggle room at the waist. The jeans should fit as you stand, but should have some play when you sit. For that, you need a fit that has a straight leg so that it shows off your assets, but without making you look middle-heavy. Stretch jeans will give you more comfort. Avoid super skinny, tight fits and high-waist jeans. Wear loose tops that go well below your waist.
