Manish Malhotra Spring Summer 2013

Manish Malhotra showcased his latest Mijwan collection at the Wills India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013. The girls of Mijwan village are supported by an NGO named Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS), run by the veteran Hindi film actress and social activist Shabana Azmi.

Shabana Azmi dressed elegantly for the occasion in a black shirt and white chikankari dupatta, and was all praises for Malhotra’s collection

Malhotra’s apparel line highlights the traditional yet popular Chikankari embroidery work on a variety of outfits for both men and women. The embroidery gets its effect from the variety of stitches and different grades of threads used to form the beautiful patterns. This, teamed with the stunning and immaculate designs by Manish has been instrumental in the creation of some exquisite ensembles.

The collection displays the convoluted and chic chikankari work done by the women of Mijwan, exclusively for the collection. The silhouettes are a presentation of traditional Indian crafts in a contemporary modern outlook. The colour palette sees the return of earthy, subdued tones like Ivory, and burnt orange, creme, dull shades of red, pink and the likes.

The collection has heavy traces of Manish Malhotra’s unique style of bridging yesterday with tomorrow

It includes coats, kurtas, sherwanis, lehangas, long jackets, cholis, Farsi pants and anarkalis in earthy shades like ivory, brunt orange, red and pink.

The pretty  Parineeti Chopra walked the ramp as the showstopper for the ace Indian designer Manish Malhotra show.

Parineeti walked in a beautiful navy blue and tomato red ensemble teamed with a heavily embellished dupatta from the designer’s latest ‘Mijwan’ collection created by the girls of Mijwan village, located in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
