Shravan Kumar for LFW 2013

Designer Shravan Kumar’s work reverberates his dedication to the talented Indian weaver.

Taking the audience on an insightful stylish journey into the depths of the Indian weaving community Shravan endeavours to revive the Indian weaving industry and uplift the Indian weavers. Colours that are bright and sprightly, dance to the musical tunes of the perfectly placed motives bringing out the richness of the Indian heritage. Lotus, parrot and jhalar prints placed in flawless meticulousness displayed the art in weaving.

Dhoti pants, Nehru jackets, suits and sherwani in greys and pinks hues seemed reminiscent of the first blush of dawn, the steel grey palette imbues one with strength and courage. Long flowy gowns in delicately placed motifs, khadi sarees with trailing embellishments and striking cut outs in duppattas left the audience spell bound. The colour palette brims with hues of whites and candy pink.

The accessories that scorched the ramp were opulent angled boots made in khadi adorned with silver zari and soles of sap wood in a variety of colours and prints. Exquisite outlining and creativity displayed in bags made of bamboo and recycled leather made for the ideal ensemble.

The evening came to a splendid finish with Ad man Prahlad Kakar and Shriya Saran walking with Shravan in a bid to support the weavers of India. An evening truly dedicated to the Indian handlooms.
