Urvashi Kaur’s for WLIFW SS 2014

Urvashi Kaur’s SS ‘14 collection SEMAH is highlighted by a restrained palette of colors encompassing natural dyes like indigo, reds, greys, ochre, and ecru.

The silhouettes are brought to life with the use of indigenous hand-woven organic textiles from Kutch and Andhra. Sheer cotton weaves like Kota, mulmul; chanderi and linen lend fluidity to the collection.

Engineered placements of twisted tie/dye technique evoke the Bandhej. Mosaic styled geometric patterns derived by block prints paired with rouching/pleating technique along with versatile separates with touches of volume and movement in drapes set a dramatic rhythm.

Tunics with asymmetric folds and hemlines, angarkha inspired Djellabas and long voluminous tops and dresses are the mainstay of the collection. Peplum vests, wrap jumpsuits along with cowelled shalwars, Farsi pajamas and pleated shararas confirm to the mystical vibe.
