Here’s how you can whiten your teeth

All of us feel embarrassed if we have teeth that are discoloured or yellow. They just dampen our smiles. Even if we have teeth that seem okay, we always crave for pearly white teeth. Of course, you can always go to a dentist for teeth cleaning. And there is a separate procedure for teeth whitening. But you can never be sure that the procedure will not harm your teeth and their enamel. So, it is best to try to whiten them by natural methods at home.

Here a few natural teeth whitening tricks.

  • Baking soda

Baking soda is a mild abrasive and this enables it to remove stains and plaque from teeth and whiten them. It takes just a few minutes to use baking soda to brighten your teeth. Just wipe your teeth dry with a towel, dip your toothbrush in some baking soda, and brush as normal for about three minutes. You can also add baking soda to your everyday toothpaste and brush your teeth. Do note that baking soda can wear down the protective enamel on your teeth. It should be used only once or twice a week.

  • Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent, and the bleaching property is what helps to whiten teeth. It is a safe ingredient to whiten teeth in a hurry. But you should make sure not to swallow the product.

Take hydrogen peroxide solution in a small container, dip a clean cloth in it, and use the soaked cloth to gently rub your teeth. You can also dip your toothbrush in the solution and brush your teeth with it. As with baking soda, do not use hydrogen peroxide too often, or for too long.

  • Strawberries

This is a tasty method of cleaning your teeth! Strawberries contain folic acid, which helps in cleaning and exfoliating the teeth. It also has vitamin C that can help break down dental plaque. Strawberries also have malic acid, which too helps to bleach the teeth.

You can just eat a few strawberries for dessert. Or you can mash a strawberry and mix it with some baking soda. You can use this mix as a paste to clean your teeth. Or just chop a strawberry into halves and use them to brush your teeth. You can also add salt to the strawberry paste and use it to clean your teeth. Mash three strawberries into a pulp and add a pinch of sea salt. Wipe your teeth with a dry tissue, and then apply the mixture all over your teeth. Rinse your teeth after five minutes. Follow this routine for at least a month.

  • Banana rind

Bananas are packed with nutrients, and even their skin is rich. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, manganese, sodium, iron, and sulphur are some of the nutrients and minerals present in bananas. Banana rind works by absorbing the bacteria and microbes on the teeth, thus making them whiter.

You can take a banana and rub the inner part of the peel on your teeth for two minutes. Then rinse with water. Do this twice a day.
