And the award for PETA’s Hottest ‘vegetarian’ Celebrities goes to …. !

PETA ( People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is known to acclaim these awards to the celebs of B-Town in an effort to promote vegan food enthusiasm by following the path of our favorite celebrities. It is a non profit organization established in Virginia in March 1980 with the motto ‘Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way’.It came to India in January , 2000. The rise of veganism is prominent this year with  Anushka Sharma , Jacqueline Fernandez , Kangana Ranaut , John Abhram , Sonam Kapoor all converted to vegan food habits in support of PETA.

This year leaving behind celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan , Shahid Kapoor , Sunny Leone , Sri Devi to name a few the title was crowned to Alia Bhatt and Rajkumar Rao. Rajkumar Rao has been an audience pleaser this year with his critically acclaimed film “Newton” .In 2014 the title was given to Shri Narendra Modi and veteran actress Rekha.

Alia Bhatt stated – “I prefer having vegetarian food. It is a way to healthy life”. “Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao are fit, hot, and compassionate, and they’re setting a great example for their fans and millions of other people who want to fight climate change with their forks,” said Sachin Bangera, PETA’s associate director of celebrity and public relations.

In a UN report it has been stated that going vegan will solve all problems from health to climate change , if we as human beings are able to show compassion for animals.Eating meat has been linked to diabetes , cancer and obesity and an increased risk of heart diseases.

In case you’re confused about the difference between veganism and vegetarianism, we can spell it out for you. While quitting eggs and meat in particular is termed as ‘vegetarian’, altogether giving up on consuming anything that is extracted from animals(which includes dairy products ) and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals—is termed ‘vegan’.

In the recent past, many celebs have opted for vegetarianism and veganism to switch to a healthier, and a “cruelty-free” lifestyle

Lets hope PETA is able to bring about a positive change in the world.
