Bulletproof coffee – the silver bullet for losing weight

Have you heard of bulletproof coffee? Chances are you haven’t. Well, you are in for a real treat, and yes, it IS a beverage, and not some kind of trick terminology.

What it’s all about

It is a dynamic concoction created by Dave Asprey, an American entrepreneur and author, who set up his own companies, Bulletproof 360 Inc in 2013, and Bulletproof Nutrition Inc in 2014. He created bulletproof coffee before he set up the companies; in fact, he set up the companies to popularize the coffee and the bulletproof diet.

The coffee took off big time and became very popular in a short span of time. It is variously called keto coffee, fatty coffee, and butter coffee. It has been described as a weight loss inducer and is credited with many other health benefits.

What goes into it

In its most basic form, bulletproof coffee is coffee with a combination of butter and coconut oil, or any medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, or even ghee. Over time, it has devolved into meaning any kind of coffee with lots of fat from a variety of sources. The original version of bulletproof coffee is two parts butter and one part MCT oil.

How to make it

You need to blend the butter and MCT oil in a mixer and then add it to the coffee. Your coffee will become creamy and rich. You can add a dash of sugar to taste, or even a dollop of honey.

How does it benefit you

Bulletproof coffee provides you steady, lasting energy. The saturated fat in the butter slows the absorption of caffeine, which gives you even energy for several hours instead of a caffeine spike and crash. MCT converts into ketones that boost the metabolic rate, and burn the fat reserves, thus depleting them.

Besides, you also get an energy burst from the MCT oil, which is the fastest absorbed oil. You will feel super energized and full for a longer time. You should start feeling the benefits within an hour of having your first cup.

So, what are you waiting for? Down a cup now.
