Donning desi wear, Canadian PM meets Bollywood biggies

Yes, we know the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, is on a week-long visit to India. He landed in India on February 17, and ever since his arrival, he has been touring the country, checking out various tourist hot spots, including the Taj Mahal, Sabarmati Ashram, Golden Temple, and the like.

Unfortunately, a lot of controversy has surrounded the visit, with political issues dominating it. Trudeau has not been shown the usual warmth and exuberance that is reserved for most visiting dignitaries.

But be that as it may, away from all the negativity, the Canadian PM, along with his family, had a grand time, meeting various Bollywood personalities. Accompanied by his wife, Sophie, and kids, Xavier and Ella, Trudeau mingled with celebrities such as Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Khar, Madhvan, and several others. But their youngest son, Hadrien, was missing from the pics.

Trudeau posted a picture with Shah Rukh on his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Tonight, we celebrated stronger ties & new co-production opportunities between Bollywood and the Canadian Film Industry. And who better to help than @iamsrk himself… Great to meet you!”

Sporting an intricately-embroidered sherwani, Trudeau looked quite comfortable in traditional Indian wear. Wife Sophie looked fabulous in a detailed off-white saree. Sharing a photo with Trudeau on his Instagram account, Madhavan wrote, “@justinpjtrudeau such a pleasure and honour meeting you sir. Your relatability, grace and charm was most endearing and its easy to see why you are the Pride and toast of Canada. Have a lovely rest of the tour.”

Farhan Akhtar also took to Instagram to share a picture of himself with the PM, writing, “Was an honour and a pleasure to meet the Hon. Prime Minister of Canada, @justinpjtrudeau & his lovely wife, Sophie. His leadership in the discourse for ending gender discrimination serves as constant inspiration to us all. Thank you to the Respected High Commissioner for Canada to India, for the invite.”

From the look of it, everybody seems to have had a gala time.
